Relegation hope for Ramsey

by isleofman.com 29th March 2014
Ramsey beat fellow strugglers Dukinfield 42-10 at Mooragh Park as they attempt to avoid relegation from South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two.
The win takes them to within a point of Dukinfield in the standings with both sides having two games remaining.
First half tries from Dan Bonwick (two) and Nick McCudden, plus a penalty and two conversions from Matty Clague, gave Ramsey a 22-5 half-time lead.
Dukinfield’s Aaron Pashley crossed for a try to keep his side interested and Dermot Nolan pulled another back for Dukinfield after the break before Ramsey took charge.
John F Watling and Andy Cleator both crossed before Bonwick completed his hat-trick and Mikey Craine added some late icing to the cake.
Vagabonds went down 48-5 at Ballafletcher to league leaders Liverpool Collegiate.
They trailed 29-0 at the interval with Collegiate danger man Sam Holliday grabbing a hat-trick and tries also from Rob Connolly and Martin Hoban.
In the second half, Vagas were unable to stem the tide, despite a try from skipper Rob Martin.
The win keeps Collegiate three points clear at the top of the table with just two games to play.
Vagas retain seventh place in the standings.
