You’d better ‘swatch’ out if you’re in Regent Street on Tuesday April 1st when the Manx Yarnies will have brought the wonder of woollies to the trees there after staging a yarn bomb.
The guerrilla crocheters and textile terrorists will use all their knit wit to create a graffiti-meets-street-art installation they promise will bring colour to the town…and warmth to the trees.
Manx Yarnies’ founder Katy Jeffries said: ‘The yarn bomb serves as a celebration of the 132-strong group, the friends made through it, the craft of knitting and crochet, and the love of all things colourful and woolly.’
‘We thought the yarn bomb would brighten up the street and make people smile,’ added event coordinator Lorna Trevethan.
Town centre manager Michelle O’Malley said: ‘The Manx Yarnies clearly have town centre regeneration all sewn up; it’s great they’re bringing some woollen whimsy to Douglas.’
