Firm admits waste offences

by isleofman.com 31st March 2014
A Foxdale business has been fined a total of ?17,000 with costs after burning controlled waste.

FPL Recycling admitted unlicensed deposit and disposal of the waste at its site off Stoney Mountain Road.

The company also pleaded guilty to placing false adverts in the Isle of Man Examiner and Manx Telecom’s phone book.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has now revoked the firm’s licence and served an enforcement notice requiring it to clear its site of waste within three months.

DEFA’s Environmental Protection Unit says businesses should get in touch with it if they’re concerned about disposal of their waste.
