Isle of Man bids to host British Cycling Road Champs

by isleofman.com 1st April 2014
The Isle of Man is bidding to host the 2016 British Cycling National Road Championship.

Chief Minister Allan Bell made the announcement during his visit to Glasgow, where Manx cycling superstar Mark Cavendish lifted the title last year.

The launch of the attempt to bring the races to the Island was made at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome, where the Commonwealth Games track cycling will be staged later this year.

The British Championships have been on the Island before.

They sometimes formed part of International Cycling Week, which was run for almost 70 years, from 1936 to 2003.

Sports Editor Tim Glover, who's in Glasgow, says it would still be a big coup for the Island to get it:Clip 1
