Southern showcase for health and care services

by isleofman.com 1st April 2014
An open day has taken place in Port Erin to showcase the wide range of services available to older people in their own community.
The free exhibition at the Royal British Legion Hall in the village has been organised by the new Department of Health and Social Care - on the day it has come into being.
The joint approach by government and voluntary groups, is to encourage more older people to use the services and support on offer designed to help them lead fulfilling, independent lives.
The carers' group Crossroads and local charities Age Isle of Man and Southern Befrienders are among exhibitors at today's event.
They were joined by enthusiasts from the Island's first Men In Sheds project, which provides activities and a social scene for men in the south.
