Flag returned to Chief Minister

by isleofman.com 2nd April 2014
A Manx flag has been returned to the Chief Minister - after a trip to one of the world's highest peaks.

It was presented to mountaineer Phil Drowley prior to his ascent of Carstenz Pyramid in Papua New Guinea last November.

He reached the fifteen and a half thousand foot summit of Australasia's highest peak on November 11th and in doing so, became one of an elite group of around 230 climbers to have scaled the highest mountain in every continent.

The 46 year old Chief Inspector with the Isle of Man Constabulary, also raised over one and a half thousand pounds for Ronald McDonald House Isle of Man Families and Friends.

A Manx flag which Phil flew on the summit of Everest in 2010 has been on display in the Chief Minister's office for some time and Allan Bell says in realising his dream, Phil has put the Island on the map.
