Mixed reception for new parking arrangements in St Paul's Square

by isleofman.com 4th April 2014
A Ramsey resident says new parking rules in St Paul's Square are unfair on those who live in the surrounding area.
Graham Joughin is opposed to the barrier system which was introduced there at the start of the month.
He says people who live in the flats there, himself included, should be able to park for free, and should not have to pay ?365 for an annual permit if they want to put their cars in there
David Humbles, the director of car park owner Abbey Properties, says it's to keep the shops and retail centre of the town active, so people can shop when they want to. The first two hours in there are free, with subsequent hours charged.
Business owners in the square who Manx Radio spoke are mostly in favour of the new system.
Edwina Carlisle, owner of 'Edwina’s', says it's had a positive impact
