Plan for old prison site

by isleofman.com 7th April 2014

A six week consultation on the future of the old prison site in Victoria Road, Douglas, comes to an end this week.

The Victorian structure, pictured during demolition, was replaced with the new prison facility at Jurby. Now empty land, it has been described by infrastructure chiefs as a key Douglas site.

Douglas councillors will debate a suggestion to build a sheltered housing complex on the site at the public meeting of the local authority this week.

The consultation closes this Friday. A draft development brief can be viewed at www.gov.im/consultations.gov
