Ramsey RNLI’s late, late SOS Day car wash raises ?523.32

by isleofman.com 7th April 2014
Ramsey volunteer lifeboat crew washed over 40 cars on Saturday (5th April) and raised ?523.32 towards the RNLI charity’s annual SOS appeal.

Saturday morning began somewhat dismally with cloud, fog and rain and it was with some apprehension that the crew opened up the boathouse, fired up the barbeque and started brewing the tea. However, as the day progressed the clouds started to clear, the sun eventually shone and the crew were kept busy washing a steady stream of cars and also serving tea, coffee and burgers.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Kev Christian later said; ‘Thank you and well done to everybody that supported our late, late SOS day car wash. It was originally planned for RNLI SOS day itself on Friday 31st January but unfortunately January’s storms, high tides, floods and inevitable road closures meant that the event had to be postponed. But alls well that ends well and all the money raised will go towards keeping our lifeboats afloat.’
