Former capital aims to be Island's first dementia friendly town

Castletown is hoping to become the Island’s first dementia-friendly town.
It’s the initiative of at-home care company Home Instead Senior Care.
Alongside local charity Southern Befrienders and the town’s Chamber of Commerce and Commissioners, a number of events will be held in May during Dementia Awareness Week.
They will incude education sessions to help members of the community - from caregivers to shop owners - identify signs of dementia, and tailor services for those suffeirng the condition.
Emer Wiseman, one of the directors of Home Instead says they aim to increase awareness throughout the town’s community:
