Disruption likely during MT's latest 4G work

by isleofman.com 8th April 2014
The Isle of Man will begin to move a step closer tomorrow to having the latest mobile broadband technology.
The 4G network is due to be in place this summer.
Manx Telecom says the multi-million pound project is "massive", requiring the creation of an entirely new mobile network.
But while the work is ongoing, there may be some disruption for customers.
Manx Telecom says the ten-million pound investment will mean super-fast mobile broadband for its customers.
The latest phase of work will see the installation of new infrastructure at mobile sites around the Island.
This may lead to some localised disruption to mobile services, although it's hoped this will be minimised as much as possible.
This crucial stage is going to be finished before the TT period, and will be carried out from tomorrow until May 19.
MT officials say the safety of engineers is crucial - so the work has to take place during the day.
It does mean that sometimes services may be affected for anywhere between one and six hours at a time.
Sometimes that will just be reduced coverage - other times there will be no service at all.
Work may also be held up because of bad weather.
The company is going to contact all customers by text to tell them what's happening.
