Review exposes health service shortcomings but praises staff

by isleofman.com 9th April 2014
A review of standards in three key areas of patient care at Noble's Hospital has posed some searching questions for health chiefs.
An external review into the emergency department, critical care and theatres and anaesthetics has outlined concerns ranging from staff shortages to lack of leadership.
The review team identified several areas of 'immediate risk' requiring urgent attention.
When measured against a raft of quality standards, fewer than 50 per cent were met.
On the positive side, the report published yesterday (Tuesday) praised staff for their dedication and commitment.
Lead reviewer Jane Emison says maintaining high standards will be a major challenge for a hospital serving a small population:Clip 1
