Questions over new school's extra traffic

by isleofman.com 12th April 2014
Douglas Council has given a cautious welcome to plans for a new private school in the capital.
A planning application's been lodged for the conversion of Eaglehurst, an empty property in Belmont Hill, to a prep school for up to 70 pupils.
The council says it won't object to the change of use but has serious concerns about additional traffic in the area, with Ballakermeen High School located a short distance away.
The organisation behind the proposals is Castletown-based Market Square Preparatory School.
It says there would be little impact on nearby streets as the school will offer a parking and drop-off facility within its grounds and will stagger opening and closing times.
Chairman of the council's environmental serivces committee is Ritchie McNicholl:Clip 1
