A project to replace a water main in Glen Vine is running six weeks behind schedule, according to the chairman of the Manx Utilities Authority.
In Tynwald this month, Alf Cannan faced questions on the work being done on the TT course from Juan Turner MLC, who lives in the village.
He wanted to know more about the project’s time management, time spent on site by workers and a specialist chart of the project.
In a written reply, Mr Cannan says replacing a four-inch water main under Glen Vine was a priority because it is 60 years old and frequently bursts.
Mr Cannan says the problems with the main affect hundreds of homes in the Ballagarey estate and surrounding area.
More than 700 metres of pipes have been replaced, along with connections at Glen Darragh Road, Glen Vine Road, Glen Vine Drive and Glen Vine Park.
But he said bad weather and having to work around gas mains, electricity cables, street lighting, sewers, and telephone cables have all contributed to significant delays.
The original timescale for the project was 13 weeks, but Mr Cannan has revealed it is currently six weeks behind programme.
