‘Choc tactics’ at Henry Bloom Noble Library this Easter

by isleofman.com 15th April 2014

The Henry Bloom Noble Library is employing choc tactics with a book-related Easter egg hunt. Hidden around the library are eggs containing authors’ names and book titles. Hunt them down, fill out an answer sheet and correct entries will be added to a draw to win a giant chocolate Easter egg.

The challenge is just one of a number of Read All About It-themed activities planned for April as part of the library’s support of Island of Culture 2014.

For children, on Wednesday April 16th there will be an Easter craft session from 3 to 4pm, when Easter card-making, ‘bouncing bunnies’ and Easter chicks are promised. Refreshments will be provided, tickets are free and can be collected in advance from the ground-floor counter.

Meanwhile, throughout the month there are displays of different styles of literature on each floor: Manx books and a local newspaper from the 1960s on the ground floor; journalism and writers highlighted on the first floor; quick-read books to encourage the reluctant reader on the second floor.

Then on Wednesday April 30th at 7.30pm will be the world premiere of Murder in the Library, a one-act play for radio featuring Agatha Ripper and staged by performance group Voices. Refreshments will be served, tickets are free and can be collected from the ground-floor counter at the library.

The Henry Bloom Noble Library is at 10 Victoria Street, Douglas.
