'Toilet tax' makes Daily Mail headlines

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2014
The Island’s so-called toilet tax has been featured on the website of a UK national newspaper today.

The Daily Mail’s This Is Money site has been poking fun at the ?50 charge which was introduced at the start of this month.

The article by Manx-born Adam Uren likens the fee, announced by former water authority chairman John Houghton MHK earlier this year, to the UK’s notorious 'pasty tax'.

Mr Uren calls the toilet tax unfair – pointing out that as a flat charge, the wealthy are better off although he does acknowledge the government has promised to help those hardest hit.
