Some residents in Strang and Union Mills last night reported someone trying to get into their houses.
It's also been reported on social media that a man managed to get into a lady's house - she awoke to find him standing over her.
She screamed, causing him to run off.
Officers say they'd like to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything unusual in the area between 9pm and midnight last night.
The police are urging people who live around there to lock their doors.
