Your chance to quiz climate change expert

by isleofman.com 24th April 2014

There's an opportunity for the public to hear the views and ask questions of a world expert in climate change.

Professor Thomas Stocker will give a talk at the Manx Museum on Tuesday May 13 at 6.15pm. Professor of Climate and Environmental Physics at the University of Bern in Switzerland, he co-chairs the working group that has produced a summary for policymakers having assessed more than 9,000 scientific publications.

Environment Minister Phil Gawne said: 'The working group looked at evidence of climate change from around the world and confirmed, with even greater certainty than before, that it’s happening at an unprecedented rate and that, through the burning of fossil fuels and land use practices, humans have been the dominant cause since the mid-20th Century. As part of raising awareness of this hugely important issue, I am pleased that Professor Stocker has agreed to visit the Island to talk about the findings of the working group.'

Tickets are free but places are limited and anyone wishing to attend should register at http://tinyurl.com/k5cwbtl or
email Kristian.Cowin@gov.im stating the number of seats you require.
