Beach clean this weekend

by isleofman.com 25th April 2014

A major beach clean takes place on Sunday, with Isle of Man group Beach Buddies joining forces with the Marine
Conservation Society's Big Beach Clean.

Castletown is the focus locally as part of a nationwide initiative being backed by Marks & Spencer. Everybody who takes part will qualify for a free ?5 voucher from M&S.

Founder of Beach Buddies, Bill Dale said: 'It's an earlier start than usual but the same rules apply as normal and we're hoping to possibly recruit some new volunteers who are always warmly welcome. We provide all the equipment and the new Sandy Bairstow trailer is proving to be fantastic and will be used to remove the rubbish collected afterwards, recycling where possible.'

To qualify for the M&S voucher, volunteers must visit the Marine Conservation Society website to register. The beach clean starts at 10am at Castletown Bay, near Hango Hill.
