Isle of Man Archery Club field members competed in a two day Easter shoot at Dearne Valley Archery Club in Yorkshire. Lesley Sleight competing in the Ladies American Flatbow Class smashed her previous UK FITA Marked record by 45 points. Her score of 184 also beat the UK Gentleman’s American Flatbow Record which was also broken at the weekend. The Gentlemen’s’ record now stands at 169 points. Lesley also improved on her UK FITA combined record with a score of 369 points breaking the previous record by 20 points.
Lesley said "I have been really training hard over the past few months and it seems to have paid off. I was pleased to break two British records. I was also thrilled to break the UK Men’s marked record and by as much as 15 points was certainly very rewarding.”
There was further success with John Corkill gaining a gold medal in the Gents Compound Barebow Class and Rodger Sleight gaining a bronze medal in the Gents Longbow Class. For John this was his first Archery GB FITA field shoot. It was certainly a very successful weekend for the Manx Archers.
