Kennaugh could lead Team Sky at Giro

by isleofman.com 25th April 2014
Many newspapers and cycling journals are suggesting Manx rider Peter Kennaugh could lead Team Sky's efforts at the Giro d'Italia.
It was announced yesterday that Peter Kennaugh and Onchan resident Ben Swift had been selected in the squad for the first grand tour of the season.
The team does not include Chris Froome, Sir Bradley Wiggins or Richie Porte.
Team boss Sir Dave Brailsford has been a long time admirer of Peter Kennaugh and has tipped him as a future Tour de France winner.
The Guardian says it understands Sky's plan is for Kennaugh to aim for a high placing in the overall standings, so that he can gain experience of riding for the overall classification in a three-week tour for the first time.
