Thomas pleased at Council support for move to change rates system

by isleofman.com 29th April 2014
An MHK says he's pleased Douglas Council has given qualified support for a move to fundamentally change the rates system.
Chris Thomas has taken up David Buttery's Petition for Redress of Grievance which was presented on Tynwald Hill five years ago.
The issue has now been debated by Douglas Council
Mr Thomas took up the petition shortly before the time limit for the redress was up and says whilst he's expressing his personal views on the matter, it's an issue he's always had an interest in.
A report back to Tynwald following consultation will be made by October this year, with work due to start on reform in 2015
