The Young Magicians of Mann will stage their full length 'It's Magic!' show at the Erin Arts Centre on Sunday afternoon (4th May). The club has operated continuously since 1987 and meets at the Youth Arts Centre in Douglas. Since 1988 they have staged an annual show in Douglas, which has always sold out. At other times, the club members support local charities and are often seen at fairs and fetes amazing those present. On Sunday they will stage their first full show at the Erin Arts Centre at 3pm.. A high quality show can be guaranteed, as the club is run by Mike, Lexi Watterson and Paul Martin - all members of magic's most prestigious club, The Magic Circle.
Mike said "We are really excited about having the opportunity to perform in Port Erin, as the venue is ideal for a fun-filled afternoon of excitement and mystery." The 18 members will be demonstrating magic that is suitable for all the family, and will include some great illusions and a mind-blowing finale that will have the audience leaving the centre with looks of amazement and smiles on their faces. Magic is very popular at the moment, with a number of high profile magicians appearing on television. Mike explained "Magic is always best seen 'live' though, and you can be sure that there are absolutely no camera tricks or editing in 'It's Magic!."
As an added bonus in preparation for the show, the magic club members attended a lecture / workshop on Friday by professional comedy magician Mark Shortland. The event was arranged by the Magicians of Mann, a separate club for adults and was supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council.
