by isleofman.com 2nd May 2014
Zoe Shimmin has been selected for the Great Britain Olympic Canoeing Talent programme.
Zoe, better known on the Island as a Hockey player, applied to the UK sport talent identity scheme Girls4Gold back in November last year.
There were over 600 applicants and Zoe has come through a gruelling assessement programme which started in January.
She is one of only 12 who will now start full-time training in July with the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 the target.
Recent Winter Olympic gold medal winner Lizzy Yarnold came through the first Girls4Gold raw talent scheme held in 2008.
