Pitch in for fun at Charity Rounders Competition

by isleofman.com 2nd May 2014

A charity rounders tournament is being organised to raise funds for The Children’s Centre. Teams are being urged to sign up for the event at Vagabonds Rugby Club, Ballafletcher Road, Braddan, on Thursday July 10 at 6pm. The winners of the tournament – which is sponsored by Paragon Recruitment – will have the honour of being crowned Rounders Champions but, says Susie Cox, Fundraising Co-ordinator at The Children’s Centre, the emphasis will be on friendly competition and having fun. She added:

“Rounders is a great game that anyone can play and we’re looking for teams of up to 10 players. It only costs ?10 per head, which includes a barbecue, and all funds raised will go to support The Children’s Centre’s charity projects which help families and children across the Island. It’s open to everyone from corporate teams looking for a social get together while raising funds for a good cause, to teams of families and friends just wanting to have a fun night out. The Vagabond’s Rugby Club bar will be open throughout, and we must say a big thank you to the club and everyone who has helped to stage the tournament, especially the sponsors Paragon Recruitment.”

Last year a team from chartered accountants firm PWC won the trophy, and they are urging teams to sign-up this year. A PWC spokesperson said:
“It’s a great event in aid of a very worthy cause. If it’s a bit of morale boosting summer fun you are after, look no further than The Children's Centre’s annual Rounders Tournament!”

As well as the teams taking part, supporters and friends are welcome to come along and watch the action and cheer on all the competitors. Entry forms can be found at www.thechildrenscentre.org.im or by emailing susiecox@thechildrenscentre.org.im – or you can call Susie on 676076 for more details.
