Sierra Leone aid project fosters political respect

by isleofman.com 4th May 2014
A Manx government overseas aid project has been praised to the hilt by its recipients in Sierra Leone - who say it has made a huge difference.
The Island's International Development Committee has helped the west African country safeguard its sea fisheries, thanks to the donation of a fisheries protection vessel.
This week newly installed martime officers from Sierra Leone have visited their counterparts in the Isle of Man, to gain new skills and knowledge to put into practice at home.
Environment, Food and Agriculture minister Phil Gawne says the assistance has paid dividends - not only in humanitarian terms.
Meanwhile, head of Sierra Leone's maritime management team Victor Kargbo says the project has helped his country to help itself, and he can't praise the Manx assistance highly enough:Clip 1
