Keys questions probe diversity of current issues

by isleofman.com 6th May 2014
Fourteen questions will be tabled on a diverse mix of issues in the House of Keys when it sits this morning.
Among them, the budget set aside for the current root-and-branch review of the Island's health service, the discharge of sewage into Peel bay and prospects for a World TT series.
Another six questions await a written response.
MHKs will then give a first reading to a bill paving the way for a new Public Services Commission while two other bills await their third reading.
South Douglas member Kate Beecroft will ask whether the ?2.1 million allocated for implementing recommendations of 13 reports into the health service is sufficient.
Her Liberal Vannin colleague Peter Karran continues pressing for information on the depleted National Insurance Fund.
The Onchan member will also ask the environment minister about sewage contamination in Peel bay, which he says is four times greater than that recommended by consultants.
Michael MHK Alf Cannan wants to know why the DED hired a retail consultant to review options for Callow's Yard in Castletown, while North Douglas member John Houghton seeks the latest on the progress and cost to date of the TT World Series initiative.
The toilet tax is back: the Treasury minister will be asked by West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas what the legal basis is for enforcing payment of the charge.
You can hear a live broadcast of Keys Questions on Manx Radio AM1368 from 10am.
The Legislative Council also sits today.
