Have your say on uplands management

by isleofman.com 7th May 2014
It's vital to get our uplands management right.
That's the view of the Island's Director of Agriculture, Peter McEvoy.
Members of the public are currently being invited to submit their views and comments on the issue, following the publication of a draft strategy by a group of key stakeholders, including DEFA, the Department of Economic Development, conservation groups and the Green Lane Users' Group.
The uplands form a vital and iconic part of the Island's landmass but their care and management has always been a contentious issue, particularly when it comes to recreational use by various groups and erosion on many green lanes.
Director of Agriculture Peter McEvoy from DEFA says the draft strategy has been a year or more in the making and it's hoped all groups will now work together to ensure the right strategies are put in place for this important area

B/A: The consultation runs until Friday the 30th May . . . copies of the draft strategy can be downloaded from the government website . . and comments can be emailed to . . .or by post to Manx Uplands Strategy, Thie Slieau Whallian, St Johns, IM4 3AS.
