Bike club questions damaged uplands strategy

by isleofman.com 8th May 2014
Mountain bike enthusiasts say a new strategy to protect Manx uplands takes a positive long-term view - but says little about action needed now, to repair damaged green lanes.

The government's draft uplands plan has been agreed by a range of interest groups - from farmers and ramblers to off-road drivers and Manx National Heritage.

It's now gone out to public consultation.

The Manx Mountain Bike Club says although its members use the upland rights of way, cyclists have very little impact on the tracks.

The group has suggested ways in which damage by motor vehicles could be minimised.

Chairman Graham Hughes says a big concern is those tracks not defined by hedges or walls:Clip 1
