Appeal after girl left "alarmed"

by isleofman.com 9th May 2014

Were you in Keppel Road and/or Willaston shops area of Douglas, yesterday (Thursday 8th May 2014) at about 9:30pm?

The Police are currently looking into an incident where a 13 year old girl was spoken to by a male sat in a car and due to not understanding what he said or his intentions, she became alarmed.  PC Niall Killey of Lord Street Police Station would be grateful if the driver of a black 3 door saloon style car who was described as mid 30’s with medium length curly blonde hair, speaking with an Irish accent could make contact with the Police so that we can establish an innocent explanation and put the young girl and her parents’ minds at rest.  Alternatively, we would ask that anybody in the area at the time who may have witnessed what took place, please make contact with PC Killey.

The 13 year old girl was unharmed and at this time there is no evidence to confirm ill intent.  The male shouted something to her from his car and she did not understand what was said due to his accent.  As she went to the shops, the car was turned around back in her general direction and on exiting the shops she noticed the car again parked nearby with the male sat in the driver’s seat.

The male did not alight the vehicle at any point nor was the young girl directly threatened.

Anybody with any information should contact PC Killey at Police Headquarters on 631212.
