Beach Buddies this weekend

by isleofman.com 9th May 2014

Beach Buddies is back in action again this weekend, with a team session to be held at Langness on Sunday morning at 10.30am.

This is an area which has been badly affected in recent months by the early storms of 2014, and a major clean-up is required. Some large items of fishing gear and plastic barrels have been spotted, and its ‘expected there will be a great deal of plastic to collect by the volunteers.

All volunteers are asked to be aware that this is the nesting season for seabirds, and not to venture into the areas where birds are nesting, but to restrict their collection of rubbish to the high water mark and below, and to avoid the undergrowth above the high water mark.

As always, Beach Buddies provides all the equipment necessary with litter pickers and gloves supplied by DoI, bin bags supplied by WDS Ltd, and the rubbish will be removed afterwards in the Sandy Bairstow trailer.
