Christian Aid Week underway

by isleofman.com 11th May 2014
Islanders are being asked to play their part to improve food supply in Cambodia.
Christian Aid Week begins today (Sunday) with more than 300 volunteers involved in house-to-house collections, arranged by Churches Together in Mann.
Organisers have set a fundraising target of ?40,000 to help improve food security and income levels in one of the poorest districts of the country.
It’s hoped the collections locally will again be matched by Tynwald’s international development committee.
Last year’s collections in the Island helped provide more than 50 pump wells in Zimbabwe, giving clean, safe drinking water to 20,000 people.
A launch service for Christian Aid Week will be held at St Luke’s Church in Baldwin at six thirty this evening (Sunday).
