Organisers of the MBL Financial sponsored KHG Funds Senior Open are inviting more women players to sign-up for this year’s tournament. The Island’s premier seniors event is already firmly established as one of the most popular and prestigious tournaments on the calendar, and this year the organisers have added a new prize for the best overall ladies’ score.
Matty Evans is Sales Director at MBL Financial which is the title sponsor of the tournament. He said:
“The KHG Funds Senior Open is now firmly established in the Island’s golfing calendar, and this year we particularly wanted to encourage more ladies to take part by adding a new award to the already impressive prize list. We are delighted with the number of entrants so far, but there’s still time for more ladies to sign-up before the May 30th deadline and be part of this increasingly popular event. The Senior Open gives players the feeling of playing in a major tournament – that’s why so many players return year after year. Thanks to our sponsorship the entry fee for this year’s tournament remains ?60 per head which includes green fees, refreshments at each event, and a buffet after the final round. As in previous years there will be a chance to win some excellent, top quality prizes - and stylish gifts will also be presented to all the players that take part.”
Pauline Merrill, who has played in the Senior Open, said:
“It’s a great tournament, extremely well organised and a lot of fun. There aren’t many tournaments where you are treated to strawberries and Champagne at the half-way point! But that’s just one of many aspects of the Senior Open which make it unique.”
The three round tournament begins at Douglas Golf Course on July 3 with round two at Rowany on August 7, and the final round at Ramsey on September 4. It’s run on a four-ball format with tee times between 8.30am and 2.30pm. As in the 2014 tournament, categories will be split into two – Seniors (aged 50-64) and Super Seniors (65+). Excellent prizes are on offer to the winners across both categories along with a buffet and prize giving after the final round in Ramsey. Any lady golfers who think that their handicap is too high, or if they can’t make-up a four ball team, are still encouraged to sign-up. A place in a four-ball team can be arranged for any individual lady golfers who want to take part.
KHG Funds is an Isle of Man innovative fund range investment managed by Creechurch Capital – the boutique discretionary fund manager based in Douglas. For more details about the tournament, and to sign up for the event, phone Christine Novak on 01624 653800. Closing date is May 30.
