Jonathan Hall, Director of Obbligato Consulting Ltd, walked more than 100 miles in March to support the work of two well-known local charities - Southern Befrienders and The Children’s Centre. The walk, which was from Chipping Campden to Bath along the iconic Cotswold Way, represent the fulfilment of a long-held ambition to complete the route. He has been involved with Southern Befrienders as a director for three years and chairman for the past year, and he has been a trustee of The Children’s Centre for nine years. Jonathan said:
“I wanted to make the walk into something more than a personal physical challenge, and so decided to seek sponsorship for two charities that are close to my heart. I have been amazed at the generosity of my family and friends, enabling me to raise ?1,563.16 for the charities. Having all that support helped to make those last few miles a bit less painful! The charities both have a huge impact on the Manx community. Southern Befrienders aims to reduce the isolation experienced by older people. I first encountered the charity when the elder of my two daughters, who both attended Castle Rushen High School, chose to be involved with the scheme as an extra-curricular activity. She visited a gentleman in the south of the Island who did not have family close by, and who was house-bound for much of the time. The Children’s Centre has also worked closely with Castle Rushen for several years, most recently on an educational project, called EPICentre, which enables young adults to re-take their maths and English GCSEs. This gives them a second chance at gaining the qualifications that are so necessary in today’s increasingly competitive employment market.”
He presented the cheque to Juana Warburton, Development Manager at The Children’s Centre, and Lorna Trevethan, Scheme Manager at Southern Befrienders. Both thanked him for his magnificent fundraising efforts, and those who had sponsored him.
