The Isle of Man Olympic Handball Association will be presenting a short version of its 5 year Development Strategy followed by its AGM at:

Under the guidance of IoM resident, Mick Hegarty, the sport enjoyed a great following between 1990 and 2007, with many players enjoying the league and cup competitions which culminated annually in the IoM International Handball Festival each July. In fact the GB Olympic Team Capatin, Lynne McCafferty of Scotland, cut her handball teeth at this very competition. Along with the tours abroad to Italy, Germany, and UK the Island produced its fair share of GB and England youth international players like David Shand, Brett Callow, and Mike and Angela Hegarty. Mike actually made the initial stages of the GB squad eventually selected for the London Olympics.
 
The sport is now entering a new phase with the return to the Island of Mick Hegarty who has recently given up his post as Director of Performance with England Handball to return to the Island and once again help with handball's development:

"In 2005, I was headhunted by British Handball to manage the GB Men's squad's preparation for London 2012. This was a chance in a lifetime experience which has culminated in my moving across to manage the Olympic Legacy programme Nationally in England. Since the Olympics, Handball has increased its popularity more than any of the other Olympic Sports in schools across the UK. I have now committed myself to re-establishing the same popularity for handball in Manx Schools and communities. "
