A 35 year old man from Ballasalla has been charged with grievous bodily harm following a serious assault in Clagh Vane over the weekend.

He is due to appear at Douglas courthouse this afternoon.

Detective Inspector Mark Newey said: 'Despite this male being charged, the enquiry into what happened is still very much active and I still want people to come forward and talk to the police about what happened.'

A local man who has not been officially named sustained what police say were 'very serious injuries' in thedisturbance in the street at about 2.30am after a house party. Police say there were a number of people in the street at the time.
