Parents opt for international GCSE

by isleofman.com 22nd May 2014
Parents in the Isle of Man have given a decisive verdict on which exam system they want to replace current GCSEs for 16-year olds.

A consultation on the options carried out by the Department of Education received 800 responses - making it the second biggest exercise of its kind ever carried out by the Manx government.

Adopting the International GCSE was the overwhelming first choice of more than 80% of parents, teachers and the general public.

Switching to the Scottish exam system was the clear second choice, with England's exam-only replacement the least popular option by a large margin.

Education chiefs will now study comments in detail before making a final decision.
