Mountain road one-way as TT festival opens at Billown

by isleofman.com 23rd May 2014

TT 2014 is almost here and police will prepare the Mountain road for the influx of tens of thousands of visitors, ahead of the first practice session on Saturday evening.
The road will close at 9.30am (Friday 23 May) to allow for the setting up of the one-way system for the T.T. period.
Signage and bollards will be put in place from Ramsey through to the Creg-Ny-Baa.
The section of road is due to reopen at 4.30pm but will be one-way from Ramsey Hairpin to the Creg for the duration of T.T. 2014.
The festival's curtain-raiser gets underway this evening at Billown.
Roads will close at 6.05pm for the first practice session for the Blackfords Pre T.T. Classic Races.
Despite a near washout on the main Monday race day a year ago, entries are excellent for the popular meeting.
There are two races tomorrow afternoon including the Singles.
Race Secretary George Peach says one man to watch out for will be the oldest competitor in the field Ted Fenwick.
His bike will be numbered 86 - the age of Ted himself:
