Manx Telecom extends Royal Manx Show sponsorship

by isleofman.com 23rd May 2014

Manx Telecom is extending its sponsorship of the Royal Manx Agricultural Show for another three years. The company began sponsoring the event in 2012 and will now continue its support until 2016. The event will continue to be known as The Royal Manx Agricultural Show with Manx Telecom and will be held on August 8 and 9 this year at Knockaloe Farm, Patrick.

Voirrey Barron, Manx Telecom Marketing Communications Manager, said the company’s sponsorship has aimed to raise the profile of the event even further and attract a greater number of younger visitors to the show. He said:
“We’re very proud to be continuing our support for what is a great Manx institution and the Island’s second biggest public attraction after the TT. The Royal Manx Agricultural Show with Manx Telecom is a very popular community event and we have worked closely with the organisers to widen its appeal even further. In particular we have brought new events to the show which appeal to a younger audience such as BMX and skateboard stunt teams.”

Allan Jones, President of the Royal Manx Agricultural Society, said:
“The show has been an important part of Island life for over 150 years but we need to move with the times. The show is a much-loved cornerstone of Manx community life and most people have a special memory of a day spent there – meeting friends and enjoying a leisurely day seeing the very best that Manx agriculture has to offer. We are absolutely delighted to be working with Manx Telecom again this year, and appreciate the confidence in the Royal Show that this partnership demonstrates. With their help we can encourage young people to not only visit the Royal Show in  August, but hopefully to become involved personally, perhaps even as exhibitors. Whether it’s a photograph, a plate of cupcakes, a meg-lamb, or a vintage tractor - all are welcome!”

Mr Jones added that thanks to the event sponsor’s continued support this year’s show will feature performances from the Stampede Stunt Company which proved to be very popular when they appeared at the 2013 show with a medieval-themed display. For this year they will perform their ‘Gulliver’s Carnival’ set which includes spectacular horse-riding stunts and tricks in two half-hour displays on both days of the Royal Show.  Go to http://www.stampedestuntcompany.co.uk for information and videos of the Stampede displays.

Show Secretary Christine Pain added that the 2014 schedule is available now and this lists all of the classes that can be entered. Ideas range from livestock and light horses to cookery, farm and garden, arts and crafts, three dog shows, and much, much more. For a copy of the list please email royalmanx@manx.net or phone 801850.  Details and entry forms are also on the website www.royalmanx.com
