Peel Sea Scouts HQ ship-shape again thanks to Lloyds Bank volunteers

by isleofman.com 29th May 2014

Volunteers from Lloyds Bank, including the Lloyds Bank Peel Branch, gave Peel Sea Scouts’ headquarters a well-deserved refurbishment last week.

18 Lloyds Bank staff volunteers spent their ‘Day to Make a Difference’ repairing and redecorating the building – home to the Island’s only Sea Scout troup – including minor repairs and painting throughout.

Lloyds Bank spokesman: ‘As a big employer, our colleague volunteering initiatives can make a real difference. The ‘Day to Make a Difference’ programme enables all Lloyds Bank employees to spend one day a year during work time volunteering for local charity projects and the work at Peel Sea Scouts’ HQ is just one of a range of community activities.

‘We were delighted to have so many willing volunteers for this worthwhile project and big thanks go to Paul Aldridge and other additional volunteers from Peel Scouts, and to Feltons in Ramsey for helping with discounted materials, all paid for by Lloyds Bank. Unfortunately the weather prevented us from finishing the exterior decoration but we’ve been able to leave the materials for that work to be finished by the Sea Scouts themselves.’

Nick Kaighin, Group Scout Leader, 3rd Peel Sea Scouts said: ‘We were very pleased that the Lloyds Bank team selected our headquarters for some much-needed attention and we are all really pleased with the results of their hard work.’
