Investment in Peel Food Park will boost economy says Minister

by isleofman.com 1st June 2014
Tynwald is going to be asked to approve spending of nearly ?1 million pounds for the final phase of a food park being built in Peel.
The project, which began in 2010, will cost nearly ?3 million in total.
It is a joint initiative between the Departments of Environment, Food and Agriculture and Economic Development.
Seventy jobs have already been created at the park, and it's estimated that once it's finished that number will rise to 125.
The third and final phase will see the creation of three new vacant plots that would house 1,220 square metres of industrial units.
The money will also be spent on improving utilities and roads in the already occupied southern half of the Park.
Food Minister Phil Gawne says the economy would receive a considerable boost from the final phase of the park.
He adds that by providing a centre of excellence for the food production industry, the opportunity exists to maximise the industry’s contribution to the Isle of Man’s economy,’
The financial motion will go to this month's sitting of Tynwald which starts on June 17th.Clip 1
