First TT win for Harrison/Aylott

by isleofman.com 2nd June 2014

A FIRST TT win in the Sure Sidecar class was recorded by Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott riding a Shellbourne Honda today in the Isle of Man.

Having made his debut in 1993, Harrison admitted afterwards that he thought he would probably never win a TT, but his dream came true today, giving him “a full set” of podium places.

Harrison recorded his fastest ever TT lap on the way to victory, at just over 114mph, but it was still a very close race throughout, with the lead changing a number of times.

The Birchall brothers led on lap one of the three lap race, but crashed out, leaving the way open for multiple TT winner Dave Molyneux who had a slower start than expected, but was in front going into the final lap.

But Molyneux, with passenger Patrick Farrance, also went out with engine problems, retiring when they had victory almost in their hands, leaving Harrison/Aylott to steal the victory from runners up John Holden / Andy Winkle (LCR Honda). Third place went to Tim Reeves / Greg Cluze (DMR Honda).
