Steam Packet & Sefton team up to thank TT Marshal's Association

by isleofman.com 3rd June 2014

One member of the TT marshals’ ‘orange army’ will be rewarded with a well-deserved two-night break, courtesy of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and the Sefton Group.

The companies have joined forces to offer a two-night break for two people, including ferry travel and accommodation, to the lucky winner of a prize draw for marshals who volunteer their services each year for the TT.

This is the third year that the Steam Packet Company and Sefton Group, which often work together to promote and package holidays by ferry to the Island, have offered a prize to the TT Marshals’ Association as a ‘thank you’ for their commitment to the Island’s most popular racing events.

Steam Packet Sales Development Manager Brian Convery said: ‘The “orange army”, as marshals are known, provide a vital voluntary service without which the TT simply could not happen. We have worked closely with the TTMA for years, offering discounted travel when members travel to attend recruitment events and training courses in the UK and a discount to marshals who volunteer for both the TT and Festival of Motorcycling.

‘The feedback we’ve had from the previous prize draws has been fantastic, so we are more than happy to say “thank you” to the marshals by offering the holiday prize again this year.’

Nicola Wilkinson, Sefton Group Marketing Manager, said: ‘The marshals do such a fantastic job each year, and we are happy to support the prize again by offering two nights’ bed and breakfast at the Sefton Hotel.’

The prize draw will take place during TT Race Week. TTMA Chairman Terry Holmes said: ‘On behalf of the Association, and all the Marshals, I’d like to thank both the Steam Packet Company and the Sefton Group for their generosity in providing a prize for the third year running. The dedication and enthusiasm shown by the Marshals is humbling, and prizes such as this are the Island’s way of saying “thank you” to them all for their efforts.’
