Emotional day for Manxman back on Normandy beaches

A Manxman will today (Friday) be among those recognised at official commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
Onchan resident Hector Duff’s due to be presented with the Legion of Honour Medal by French president Francois Hollande.
He was a young ‘Desert Rat’ when 150,000 allied troops, comprising British, American and Canadian soldiers, stormed onto the beaches of Normandy to combat the German forces occupying France.
Mr Duff has returned to Normandy to remember 3,000 men who didn’t make it and lost their lives protecting their country.
He told ITV’s ‘This Morning’ he will never forget events of 1944.Clip 1
