A long term masterplan for central Douglas, that includes the demolition of the Sea Terminal building, is the subject of a Tynwald question next week.
Douglas MHK Chris Thomas wants to know whether the masterplan will be used when planning applications and appeals are being considered, and whether it will influence the preparation of the eastern area plan. He's asking the chairman of the masterplan committee, John Shimmin, for a written response.
The government recently unveiled the masterplan to revive central Douglas, employing IBI Taylor Young, experts in urban development from the UK, to devise a scheme. The plan provides for the creation of a winter gardens in central Douglas, more parking provision and more retail space.
