New Archbishop of Liverpool on first visit to Mann

by isleofman.com 13th June 2014

The new Roman Catholic Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most Reverend Malcolm McMahon is making his first visit to the Isle of Man today.
It's a brief, mainly private visit for Archbishop Malcolm to meet local Catholic clergy.
The Archbishop has just one public duty - this evening he will confirm young people in the south of the Island at a special service in St Columba's church in Port Erin.
Today's visit is being hosted by Canon Philip Gillespie from St Mary's in Douglas.
Archbishop Malcolm was installed at a mass in Liverpool Cathedral in May, succeeding Archbishop Patrick Kelly who stepped down in January 2013.
It's understood he will return for a longer visit to meet Island Roman Catholics in the near future.
His archdiocese covers Liverpool, parts of Greater Manchester, south west Lancashire and the Isle of Man.
