People are being invited to Lonan Church this afternoon (15 June) for a special service giving thanks for peace.
It will reflect on both world wars and the impact they had on the Island.
There will also be a chance to remember a little boy who tragically lost his life after he came to the Island as an evacuee.
Alan McCulloch was killed when a burning wing from a Canadian Air Force bomber came down on the house where he was staying in Pinfold Hill in Laxey, in July 1944.
He was just three years old. Almost 70 years on, his brother Peter - born after Alan's death - has returned to the Island this weekend for the first time time.
Vicar of Lonan and Laxey Jo Dudley says today's service at 4pm will be an opportunity for members of the community to reflect on how lucky they are:
