Police vigilant on domestic abuse during World Cup

Police in the Island are promising a swift response to reports of domestic violence during England's World Cup campaign.
A zero-tolerance approach to threatening, violent or abusive behaviour in the home is being promoted by officers through social media, under the slogan 'Don't Pay the Penalty'.
It's a similar campaign to that run during the last World Cup in 2010 and has been launched in tandem with a clampdown on drink drivers.
Police say football fans' passion for the game when fuelled by alcohol, can get out of hand - and result in people suffering at the hands of their partner.
In an emergency you should ring 999.
If you want to report an existing abusive situation, contact police headquarters on 631212.
