Police urge domestic abuse victims to seek help

by isleofman.com 16th June 2014
Police in the Island are urging those suffering abuse at the hands of a partner, to find the courage to report it.
Domestic abuse covers a range of threatening or controlling behaviour - from violent attacks on people or property, to verbal abuse and control of family finances.
The force has launched a social media campaign to tie-in with the World Cup, promising a zero tolerance approach to reports of abuse in the home.
Christmas, major football tournaments, even family holidays can create 'pressure cooker' situations within families, as emotions run high and alcohol consumption rises.
Domestic Abuse coordinator for Isle of Man Police PC Alison Thompson promises those who come forward to report abuse they will be taken seriously: (play audio)
In an emergency you should ring 999.
If you want to report an existing abusive situation, contact Alison at police headquarters on 631212.Clip 1
