PokerStars takeover offers expansion hopes

by isleofman.com 16th June 2014
One of the biggest names in the Island's e-gaming industry says its growth target could see staff numbers increase by 10 per cent by the end of the year.
The upbeat message from PokerStars comes following news the firm has been taken over by a Canadian public company Amaya.
PokerStars employs more than 200 people in the Island and is a lynchpin in the e-gaming sector - and the wider Manx economy.
A statement issued on Friday offered firm reassurances on jobs and stressed the Isle of Man is an ideal base for its company headquarters.
Under new ownership, the firm will look to expand into the United States market - and there are new product launches in the pipeline.
Chief Minister Allan Bell says the prospects look very encouraging:Clip 1
